Banedanmark is well underway with its digitisation program for the signaling and control systems for the Danish railways. Smallworld Nordic has been chosen as the supplier of a new system to document the fiber network, which is the infrastructure that supports all communication between the digital equipment.
Banedanmark is responsible for Denmark's railways and is an agency under the Ministry of Transport with more than 2,500 employees. The head office is located at Carsten Niebuhrs Gade 43 in Copenhagen.
Smallworld Nordic shall deliver GIS software to document both physical and logical connections in Banedanmark's fiber network. The logical part will be handled by a solution from CROSS Network Intelligence, which will work together with the Smallworld Physical Network Inventory (PNI).
Banedanmark will move the documentation of its fiber network from an older home-grown system to Smallworld, which will increase the functionality and usability significantly. Smallworld thus becomes a central part in the realisation of the digitisation program that runs until 2033.
More complexity, increased security demands and the ability to support impact and risk assessments during maintenance are some of the most important concerns in the upcoming project.
- We are proud and happy to deliver a new and advanced system that will help future-proof new signaling systems, transmission systems and data networks, says Tanja Rask Elbæk, CEO at Smallworld Nordic. - Our project team is already in place and is eager to get started with the important and inspiring tasks ahead.
